If you are new to Windows 8, you will quickly notice how different the user interface is when compared to previous Windows operating systems, such as Windows 7 or Vista. Simple tasks, such as removing a program from your computer, can be confusing while using Windows 8 for the first time, especially since there’s no familiar “Start” button to resort to.
We’ll help you learn how to uninstall a software program in Windows 8. While the process is a bit different, it is easier than you might think.
Turn on your computer and select “Windows 8” if you have multiple operating systems installed. You be automatically taken to the Start Screen as soon as you log into your user account.
Once you are in the “Start Screen,” you will see a list of tiles representing the programs that you have installed. Right click the tile of the program that you want to uninstall. You will now see a green-colored bar pop up at the bottom of the screen containing several icons.
Click the “Uninstall” icon. Windows 8 will now open the “Programs and Features” window, which you will instantly recognize if you have used Windows 7 or Windows Vista.
Left click the program that you want to uninstall. Now click the “Uninstall” button that shows up at the top of the “Programs and Features” window.
Follow any onscreen prompts to remove the program from your Windows 8 computer.
